During the recent summer holidays Birch Carpets were pleased to be involved with the refurbishment of the Library at Harrogate College.

Situated at Hornbeam Park, and highly regarded in its own right, Harrogate College is part of the Hull College group.

The Harrogate College Library, or Student Resource Centre, has over 25,000 books, 3,000 e-books, 80 journals and e-journals and an extensive range of e-resources to support students. An open-access IT Centre has PCs incorporating current software, Apple Macs with design standard packages and various subject specific applications with internet access to support students' courses.

Open 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, the Library is hub of activity within the college and so required a floor-covering that was equal to the task in terms of performance and aesthetic appeal.

The product specified for this project was our innovative Hi Tech 'Evolution' carpet tile range in colour 'Granite Blue' ref 719712. Evolved from our best-selling Hi Tech range, Evolution is a heavy contract, solution dyed nylon, carpet tile, which comes in a range of 8 attractive and practical colour-ways. Its cleverly blended geometric design, is designed in such a way that the tiles can be laid randomly, which increases the speed of installation, reduces potential waste and creates a striking visual effect which can only be truly appreciated once the tiles are installed.

The professional installer of the carpet tiles on this occasion was Prestige Flooring Services of Pudsey, West Yorkshire.

A unique benefit of the Evolution range is that, where it is specified for use, Birch Carpets offer to provide the logistical framework, and technical know-how to ensure that the carpet tiles Evolution replaces are appropriately recycled, thus avoiding disposal in landfill. This service is offered free of cost to the customer.
